BJP welcomes stay order on proceedings against Joshi
Tuesday, September 30 2003 13:00 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on September 30 welcomed the Allahabad High Court's stay order on the framing of charges against Union Minister Murli Manohar Joshi in the Babri Masjid demolition case by the Special Court at Rae Bareilly.

"We are very happy as we always believed that the case was politically motivated," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar said.

On whether the court order would affect Joshi's decision to resign, he said, "Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee will take the decision, but we are happy that the charges have been stayed."

Javdekar denied there was any rift in the party on the issue of Joshi's resignation.

"There are no divisions," he said.
