Srinagar: Three more Pakistani intruders were killed in the ongoing operation in Gurez sector of Baramulla district in North Kashmir, taking the total number of infiltrators killed in the operation so far to 18, Defence sources said.

While one militant was killed on September 29 night, two of his associates fell to the bullets of the troops after a fierce gunfight early September 30, they said.

Army launched a massive search operation in Gurez sector on September 21 in the wake of an attempt by a group of heavily armed militants to sneak into the valley.

In the series of encounters that took place between the armed infiltrators and the search parties over the past one week, 18 militants have been killed so far, the sources said.

Two Army personnel, including an officer, also laid down their lives during the operation.
