New Delhi: Telecom czar Sam Pitroda, who suggested major structural changes in the Congress Party,
says he feels "helpless" over the response.
"I am just a catalyst...I sometimes feel helpless," Pitroda, who spearheaded the telecom revolution in the
1980s, told NDTV 24x7 when asked about his detailed report given to the Congress high command five
months ago.
In his report, Pitroda had spoken about vested interests in the party, most leaders being "out of touch"
with the masses and suggested a complete overhauling.
Pitroda said it was up to the party to work on the suggestions made by him.
On the country's progress in various fields, he said one should not get excited over "little
accomplishments", stressing "we are a country of a billion people".
Citing the example of China, he said the progress was there for everyone to see.
He said in India, there were 400 million illiterates. "There is too much to do...we are running against
time," he said while emphasising that the "real focus has to be at the district level.
