Film financier Bharat Shah convicted under IPC
Tuesday, September 30 2003 11:52 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: A special court on September 30 convicted film financier Bharat Shah, producer Nasim Rizvi and his assistant Abdul Rahim Allah Baksh for forging links with the underworld to target film personalities for personal gains.

However, the designated judge A P Bhangale acquitted co-accused and Dubai-based businessman Mohammed Shamshuddin alias Bhatija from the charges for lack of evidence.

The court deferred the matter until October 1 to decide the quantum of punishment after hearing all parties.

Shah was found guilty under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and not under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The other two accused were found guilty under IPC and MCOCA.
