By-poll results won't affect Cong-NCP ties: Shinde

Pune: Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on September 30 said the result of Solapur Lok
Sabha by-elections will not affect his party's relation with alliance partner Nationalist Congress Party
(NCP).
His reaction came in response to a query if the defeat of Congress candidate in his Lok Sabha
constituency was due to NCP refraining from campaigning and if that would affect the relationship
between the two parties.
When asked if the result reflected that people were disenchanted with Congress, Shinde said that has to
be analysed and the party has to do some introspection.
He was talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function to inaugurate the newly built Centre for Police
Research at Pashan.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena candidate Pratapsinh Mohite Patil won the Solapur seat
defeating his Congress rival Anandrao Devkate by over one lakh votes.
To another question, Shinde ruled out resignation saying, "The Opposition has the habit of harping on
resignation."
Earlier, inaugurating an ultra-modern Centre for Police Research (CPR), he dwelt on the changing role
of police in the modern times where its functions have drastically changed because of the emergence of
parallel justice system because of "lacunae" in the laws.
