Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on October 1 received minor injuries
when a bomb exploded near his convoy at the temple town of Tirupati.
"Naidu received minor injuries but he is safe," a spokesman of the Chief Minister's Office said.
Andhra Minister for IT and Employment Generation B Gopalkrishna Reddy, who was also travelling with
him, received serious injuries, the spokesman said.
Naidu was proceeding to Tirumala temple for "Brahmostavam".
The blast occurred at Alipiri road at the foothills of Tirumala when the Chief Minister's convoy was
proceeding to the temple.
Two other MLAs were also injured, according to police sources.
"Naidu, who received minor injuries on his chest and nose, is safe," official sources said.
The Chief Minister was taken to the government hospital at Tirupati for treatment.
The blast, which occurred at around 16:10 hours (IST), appeared to be a claymore mine blast triggered
near a culvert as the convoy was on its way to the temple, sources said.
However, it was not immediately clear whether the blast was a handiwork of naxalites, who have Naidu
on their hit-list.
Unconfirmed reports said Telugu Desam Party MLA Ch Krishna Murthy was also injured in the blast.
