Hyderabad: Shaken by the attack on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's convoy, Andhra Pradesh
government on October 1 said it was the handiwork of the outlawed People's War Group (PWG).
"It was a mindless and coward act of naxalites," the state Home Minister T Devender Goud told reporters
as the news about the blast targetting Naidu's convoy sent shock waves in the state.
Six claymore mines were planted near the Ghat road and were triggered one after the other, the minister
said.
Condemning the attack, he, however, said Naidu and other occupants of the car were safe.
A massive combing operation had been launched in the area, he said.
Meanwhile, efforts were on to shift the injured, including Naidu, to the city by October 1
night.
A special flight had been requisitioned from Chennai for the purpose, Goud said, adding that the ground
control staff from Chennai had already arrived in Tirupati.
Along with Naidu, the state Information Technology Minister B Gopalakrishna Reddy, Telugu Desam
Party (TDP) MLAs Ch Krishna Murthy, R Rajasekhar Reddy and Chittoor district TDP president
Rameshchandra were injured.
The condition of Rajasekhar Reddy, who is reported to be in coma, was stated to be serious, official sources said.
