New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on October 1 dismissed reports that he had
offered to resign in the wake of the drubbing that Congress received in the Solapur Lok Sabha by-
election.
"Nothing like this. What you are saying is wrong. We are soldiers of Congress president Sonia Gandhi
and have come to brief her" about the poll outcome, he told reporters.
He was asked whether he had offered to resign during his 45-minute meeting with Gandhi in view of his
failure to provide a face-lift to the Congress in Maharashtra.
Asked whether he would take moral responsibility for the defeat in the by-poll, he said, "I have already
accepted the verdict of the people's court."
He downplayed the humbling of Congress in the constituency vacated by him after becoming the Chief
Minister by saying that it was a by-election only for 10 months and therefore one wins or not does not
matter.
