New Delhi: With the arrest of two persons including a Deputy Director with the Food and Civil Supplies
Ministry, Delhi Police on October 2 claimed to have busted an employment racket engaged in
recruitment of youths into the Armed Forces using forged documents with the involvement of staff at
Army recruitment centres.
The case came to light after Delhi Police received a secret information that an employment racket was
going on in South West district in which youths were lured from villages to join Armed Forces with forged
documents, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Tajendra Luthra said in New Delhi.
Acting on a tip-off, a police raiding party nabbed a tout Jitender Kumar in the Dwarka area of South
West Delhi.
During his sustained interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed that he was an active member of
the employment racket gang and his main job was to prepare forged documents like ration cards, caste,
domicile and character certificate.
The certificates were attested by Suresh Chandra, a Deputy Director in the Food and Civil Supplies
Ministry, who used to charge Rs 500 to Rs 1000 for each attestation.
Kumar had contacts with Sub-District Magistrate offices in various areas where clerks used to charge Rs
2,500 to Rs 6,500 as bribe for issuance of domicile certificates, Luthra said.
The DCP said that this gang had good contacts with the staff at Army training centres from whom they
used to collect secret verification forms.
