Probe into Tirupati naxal blast begins

Hyderabad: A high level inquiry by security expert C Subrahmanyam began on October 3, at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh to probe the naxal blitzkrieg on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's convoy on October 1.

Subrahmanyam held detailed discussions with the officials at Tirupati and would be covering all aspects of the ghastly incident in which Naidu, his cabinet colleague Gopal Krishna Reddy, two Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs and the car driver were injured.

The meeting began at Padamavathi guest house to take stock of the events that occurred before and after the blast, the nature of attack and the methodology that was adopted, official sources here said.

A retired IPS officer who has the experience of serving in the Prime Minister's security wing in early 90s, Subrahmanyam would go into all aspects, including the security arrangements, and is likely to submit his report in a day, the sources added.
