Yadav expands ministry, 91 new ministers inducted

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on October 3 expanded his Cabinet by
inducting 91 new ministers, including 24 of Cabinet rank, taking the strength of his ministry to 98, the
biggest ever in the state so far.
This is the second expansion carried out by Yadav after he took over as Chief Minister on August 29
heading a coalition government comprising Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Rashtriya
Kranti Party (RKP) after the collapse of ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)-BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)
coalition in the state.
Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new members,
including 67 ministers of state.
On September 26, Yadav had inducted six Cabinet ministers two each from Samajwadi Party, RLD and
RKP.
Yadav was sworn in alone as the Chief Minister on August 29 by the Governor.
Earlier, Kalyan Singh-led BJP government had as many as 95 ministers.
