Naxals staged 'rehearsal' before attacking Naidu?
Saturday, October 4 2003 18:32 Hrs (IST)

Raipur: Amidst report of "rehearsal" by People' War Group (PWG) in Chhattisgarh before October 1 attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) on October 4 demanded a clear statement from the Chhattisgarh government on whether it had prior information about that or not.

Chief Minister Ajit Jogi should clarify clearly whether he had knowledge about the rehearsal by the naxalites as media reports said today the ultras had conducted a practice in the Dantewada district of the state before conducting the attack, Chhattisgarh BJP general secretary and chief spokesman Chandrasekhar Sahu told reporters in Raipur on October 4.

Alleging that there is a political conspiracy by the Congress high command and Jogi also to destabilise the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government, Sahu added the attack could also be related to that as the rehearsal was conducted in Chhattisgarh.

The senior BJP leader said he was going to write letters the Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Naidu to bring in a probe and the alleged involvement of Chhattisgarh territory on the attack.

Media reports said about 45 days before the attack on Naidu, a naxalite training camp was organised in the presence of senior PWG leader Muppala Laxman Rao alias Ganpati in the forest of Dantewada district to rehearse the attack.
