'Committee on naxal-affected states to meet soon'
Tuesday, October 7 2003 11:46 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on October 7 said the co-ordination committee on naxal- affected states would meet soon to discuss strategies in the wake of attack on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The committee headed by Union Home Secretary was formed five years ago to evolve common strategy between police forces of six to seven states affected by the naxal menace.

The meeting assumes significance in the wake of attempt on the life of Naidu recently by the outlawed People's War Group (PWG).

Advani told reporters after presenting the President's Colour to the Rapid Action Force that it was a matter of concern to the government considering the planning of attack by the naxals in the recent incident.
