BJP lambasts Cong for adopting 'double standards'

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on October 7 launched a scathing attack on the Congress for
adopting "double standards" in politics, which would lead to the defeat of the Congress governments in
Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Chattisgarh.
"While the Congress demanded the resignation of Murli Manohar Joshi as Human Resources
Development (HRD) Minister even after a court had given a stay on the special court order on Ayodhya
demolition, on the other hand, its Chief Minister Ajit Jogi of Chattisgarh has been found to have given a
false declaration and yet he remains in office," said BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan, kicking off
a three-day "Pardafash rally" by party's Chief Ministerial candidate Madan Lal Khurana.
He accused the four Congress governments where Assembly elections are slated for December 1 as
having "indulged in corrupt practices" regarding distribution of food grains by the Centre for people
below the poverty line in these states.
Mahajan said the best birthday gift that could be given to Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee by the
party is to bag the four states and opening its account in Mizoram.
In a lighter vein, he remarked, "Mizoram is the only state whose name ends with Ram and it has a
majority of Christians and the party, which has been fighting the cause of Ram should open its
account."
