Pak has done lot to start talks with India: Jamali
Tuesday, October 7 2003 18:27 Hrs (IST)
Islamabad: Claiming that Pakistan has done a lot to move towards dialogue with India, Prime Minister Mir
Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said it is now up to the Indian leadership to decide how it would respond to
Islamabad's "positive overtures" to normalise relations.
"The ball is in India's court. Let's see what they have to say. Why do people of both the countries have
to suffer because of lack of decision by the leadership," Jamali, who is currently on a tour to US, said in
an interview to CNN.
He said Pakistan has done a lot to move towards dialogue with India. "I have done my best. I talked and
wrote to Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee... we opened up missions, started road (link), offered air
link between Mumbai and Karachi, Delhi and Lahore."
Pointing out that the international community was concerned about the situation in South Asia, he said
that he apprised US President George Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powell about his concerns.
"We discussed, I made my point and it might lead to a better understanding and towards the solution of
the problem."
