Moscow: Expressing concern over the regionalisation of Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its expansion to
other neighbouring countries, Russia on October 7 called on the UN Security Council to give its stamp of
approval to the roadmap for Middle East peace.
Moscow also called for convening an international conference on West Asia to discuss the regional
situation, including Israeli-Syrian and Israeli-Lebanese relations.
"Russia is monitoring with concern the trend of regionalisation of Israeli-Palestinian conflict, its
expansion to other neighbouring countries," Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov said at a joint press
conference in Moscow with his visiting Lebanese counterpart Jean Oubeid.
"This is a very dangerous trend, since it can upset the process of Israeli-Palestinian settlement and
wreck the implementation of the road map proposed by the international mediators," Ivanov cautioned
and urged all the involved parties to return the process in the course charted by the roadmap.
Ivanov called for the UN Security Council stamp on the road map prepared by the Quartet - US, Russia,
United Nations and European Union, to make its implementation 'mandatory' for all the parties.
