New Delhi: Asserting that Centre should widen scope of the dialogue process in Jammu and Kashmir,
state Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed on October 7 said Prime Minister should appoint a special
emissary to hold talks with those who only wanted to speak to him.
Talking to reporters, after having a 30-minute long meeting with Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani,
Sayeed said, "While the job done by N N Vohra (Centre's interlocutor on Kashmir) was fine, the dialogue
needed to be broadened to engage even those who only want to talk to the Prime Minister."
The Chief Minister was indirectly hinting towards Hurriyat Conference leaders including its Chairman
Maulana Abbas Ansari who had repeatedly stated that they would not hesitate in meeting the Prime
Minister or the Deputy Prime Minister.
When asked to further clarify his statement about broadening the dialogue, Sayeed said "some
emissary of Prime Minister may be considered for appointment to carry forward the process of dialogue
initiated by the Centre."
He said the dialogue coupled with good governance was essential to address the issue of alienation in
the state and "I think we are doing our job well".
About the militancy situation in J&K he said, "We have discussed the overall situation in the state and
both sides have agreed that thaw generated needed to be further consolidated."
