Kanpur: Dubbing Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as a "wing" of National Democratic Alliance
(NDA), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav on
October 9 accused the Centre of misusing the investigating agency for political gains.
Yadav told reporters in Kanpur that "the Centre has made CBI as a political wing of NDA and through
CBI actions against former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Ajit
Jogi, the Centre is crushing the leaders of downtroddens."
Yadav termed as "unwise" CBI raids on Mayawati's residences after announcement of the schedule for
Assembly polls in the five states by the Election Commission. "They just want to demoralise Mayawati,"
he added.
Replying to a question, he said Mayawati would give a declaration of her wealth as and when she is
asked to do so.
The RJD chief said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav "may
also get threats from the Centre".
Yadav said politicians should not fear prisons. "We have attained freedom from the prison. None has left
politics out of fear for prisons which are places of our worship."
