Monica Bedi extradition trial to recommence
Thursday, October 9 2003 18:30 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Portugal's Supreme Court has stayed the order of a trial court not to extradite underworld don Abu Salem's girlfriend Monica Bedi and directed recommencement of the extradition trial against her.

The move comes as a great relief to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which had gone on appeal against the trial court's decision in July this year which said that Monica Bedi could be tried in Portugal as the forgery allegedly committed by her was an offence there.

The CBI had made the appeal against the order through the Prosecutor General at Lisbon.
