Hyderabad: Eight days after surviving an assassination attempt by naxalites, Andhra Pradesh Chief
Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on October 9 had an emotional interaction with his Telugu Desam Party
(TDP) activists and called for a people's movement to mount pressure on extremists to eschew their
violent path and join social mainstream.
"I have no fear of death... I will work for the development of the state till the last drop of my blood. I have
got a fresh lease of life because of God's grace and people's affection," Naidu said in a live television
programme 'Dial Your Party President'.
As scores of callers expressed solidarity with him during the two-hour long programme, the TDP
supremo, braving nagging pain in the collarbone, exhorted partymen to build public awareness about
naxalite menace and work for "transformation among the misguided extremist youth".
Narrating how he had a miraculous escape from the landmine blast at Tirupati on October 1, he said. "It
is a re-birth for me... I believe God has granted me 'punarjanma' (rebirth) for some specific purpose... I
will fulfil the task of developing the state, wiping out tears from the faces of the poor and make this state
a role model in the country.
"I still have pain and doctors have advised me complete rest. But, I want to be in the midst of people...
the overwhelming affection and love of the people is giving me inner strength and inspiring me to work
with renewed vigour and dedication for their welfare," Naidu added.
