ASI wants to make minor changes in Ayodhya report
Friday, October 10 2003 15:49 Hrs (IST)
Lucknow: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has moved an application before the special
Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court hearing the Ram Janmabhoomi title suit, seeking permission to
make minor amendments in its excavation report filed on August 22.
In an application moved before a three-member bench comprising Justice S R Alam, Justice Bhawar
Singh and Justice Khem Karan, the ASI said it had mentioned in the report that a statue of "divine
couple" was found in trenches k-3 and k-4, though actually it was discovered from the trenches f-3 and f-
4.
The ASI called this a "printing mistake" and sought to correct this.
ASI also said it inadvertently omitted to add the word 'pre' as prefix to 'Sultanat period' in the report.
The ASI also sought court's permission to take back the negatives of the photographs of the excavation
work for the indexing purposes.
Meanwhile, the court granted four weeks times to the concerned parties to file objections, if they have
any, on the objections filed by the Central Sunni Waqf Board (CSWB) on the ASI's excavation report.
