PM praises Indira Gandhi for Green Revolution
Friday, October 10 2003 22:43 Hrs (IST)

Bangkok: Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on October 10 praised Indira Gandhi for ensuring that India became self-sufficient in foodgrains with the launching of the Green Revolution.

"We used to look to foreign lands for foodgrains. The United States helped us. But we realised that we should be self-sufficient in foodgrains. I am grateful to Indira Gandhi for ensuring that through Green Revolution," Vajpayee told more than 400 members of the Indian community.

"Today our grains are sold abroad," he added.
