Bangkok: Declaring that his entire political career was like a "white sheet", Prime Minister Atal Behari
Vajpayee on October 10 night said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had done a "good job"
at governance but if people wanted they could "remove me from power".
"My political career and life is like a white sheet with no spots. If people do not like the achievements that
have taken place during my governance, they can remove me from power. There is Democracy in this
country," he said addressing a large gathering of Indians.
Recalling his career in politics and his presence in Parliament since 1957, he said he had never
defected to any party and remained loyal to the principles of the Jana Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP).
"There have been times when governments have changed and even Indira Gandhi was defeated after
the Emergency, but it was Democracy that brought her back. I am proud of Democracy that exists in the
country," he said.
Observing that there might be some political differences with the Opposition within India, the Prime
Minster said when it came to projecting the country abroad the entire political leadership was united and
there was no difference of opinion.
"We are all together, even though we might have some differences back home," he added.
