Pak vows to maintain regional military balance
Saturday, October 11 2003 17:27 Hrs (IST)

Karachi: Pakistan on October 11 warned it would spare no effort to maintain regional military balance after Israel signed a deal to sell three Phalcon airborne early warning radar systems to India.

"We'll exploit all our resources to maintain this balance for which we should not be blamed because this arms race has been launched by the Indians," Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri said.

Kasuri said Pakistan was deeply concerned about India's acquisition of sophisticated arms from Israel and other countries.

He said India was out to disturb the regional balance.

India and Israel signed the deal on October 10, which experts estimate to be worth around $ 1 billion.
