Border talks between India, China soon: Vajpayee

New Delhi: In yet another boost to Sino-Indian ties, Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on October 12
said that India and China have agreed to expedite establishment of a Joint Study Group on economic co-
operation and border talks by special representatives of the two governments would be held in near
future.
"My meeting with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao touched on substantive forward movement in our
bilateral relations since our last meeting," Vajpayee said in a statement at the conclusion of his week-
long visit to Bali in Indonesia and Thailand.
Referring to his talks with Wen on the sidelines of the India-ASEAN (Association of South East Asian
Nations) Summit in Bali, the Prime Minister said, "To continue this process, we have agreed to expedite
the establishment of the Joint Study Group on economic co-operation".
Official sources said that the meeting of special representatives on the boundary question would be held
on October 23.
