Maharashtra govt files cases against Cadbury
Monday, October 13 2003 22:54 Hrs (IST)

Nagpur: After giving a clean chit to the Cadbury company, Minister for Excise, Food and Drugs Anil Deshmukh on October 13 said the Maharashtra government has filed cases against the Cadbury India after samples of worm-infested chocolates were seized in Mumbai by the concerned department.

Reacting to seizure of worm-infested chocolates in the city from a couple of departmental stores in the last two days, Deshmukh asserted that similar cases would be filed if the samples collected tested positive.

Chocolates worth over Rs one lakh were seized by the FDA officials in city and samples were being sent to laboratories, he said.

He, however, tried to blame the retail shops for not storing the chocolates in cold storages. "There are many stages before chocolates are bought by the customers including packing, transportation and storage," he said.
