India, Singapore to sign MoU on Defence cooperation

New Delhi: India and Singapore will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence
cooperation and in countering terrorism.
The agreement will be signed by Defence Minister George Fernandes and his visiting Singapore
counterpart Teo Chee Hem.
The Singapore Defence Minister, heading a seven-member high-level delegation, on October 13 held
an hour-long one-to-one meeting with Fernandes.
Later, the two sides held delegation level talks with special emphasis on naval cooperation to prevent
high sea piracy in Andaman Sea.
The Singapore Defence Minister later had a 45-minute meeting with Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani.
The three Service Chiefs - Admiral Madhvendra Singh, Air Chief Marshal S Krishnaswamy and Army
Chief Gen N C Vij - called on him separately.
The Indian side to the delegation level talks was led by Fernandes and included Defence Secretary Ajay
Prasad, Lt Gen Ashok Chaki, Deputy Chief of Army Staff, Air Marshal Raghu Rajan, Deputy Chief of Air
Staff, Rear Admiral Ajit Tiwari, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff, A S Pillai, Chief Controller DRDO and Ranjit
Issar and S C Gupta, Additional Defence Secretary and Additional Secretary Defence Production.
