UDF policies are decided by Sangh Parivar: CPM
Monday, October 13 2003 16:59 Hrs (IST)

Kozhikode: Accusing the United Democratic Front (UDF) government in Kerala of having worked out a "secret agenda" with the Sangh Parivar to keep away other political parties from official dialogue on the Marad issue, Communist Party of India (Marxists) (CPI-M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on October 13 said another Left Democratic Front (LDF-UDF) convention would be held in Kozhikode on October 15 to decide on the issue of rehabilitating the families reported to be relatives of the accused.

"While there was an open agreement between the two communities in the presence of Chief Minister A K Antony to resolve the Marad crisis, the hitherto hidden secret agenda between Antony and the Sangh Parivar not to allow certain families to resettle in their homes on the charges that they were relatives of the accused has now come to light," Vijayan told reporters.

Alleging that from the very beginning Antony was taking decisions only favouring the Parivar forces, he said, "It is unfortunate that the major policies of the UDF government are decided by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)".

Stating that there was no precedent in the state where relatives of the accused were not allowed to stay in their homes in the event of violent incidents, Vijayan said "it is strange that even the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), representing the number two position in the Cabinet, is keeping quiet" on the issue.

The LDF-UDF convention, which was held earlier also to demand speedy rehabilitation of the displaced families, would now take a firm decision on the steps to be initiated for bringing back the families to Marad.
