Monday, October 13 2003 15:01 Hrs (IST)
Ahmedabad: A minor tremor measuring 2.5 on the Richter scale was reported from Bhuj district early on
October 13 while 'mysterious blast' like noises were heard from certain villages in Jamnagar district,
official sources in Ahmedabad said.
However, no loss of life or damage to property was reported due to the tremor that occurred around
1:19 AM, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) sources told reporters.
This was the second tremor that was felt in Bhuj in the last two days, even as officials could not
ascertain the epicentre.
Meanwhile, sources in Jamnagar district said loud 'blast' like noises were heard around 9:30 AM from
Lotia village and surrounding areas.
Sources said that locals had reported hearing a 'mysterious blast' like noise after a long gap following
the visit of a team of scientists who were conducting tests and had set up observatories to ascertain the
exact cause.
