No move to set up British police station in JK
Monday, October 13 2003 15:15 Hrs (IST)

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government on October 13 denied a news report about there being any plans to set up a British police station in Srinagar.

A government spokesman told reporters that such a move cannot be allowed as it would compromise the sovereignty of the country.

He described the news report in this regard as "baseless and absurd" and said no government can allow any foreign country to set up a police station on its land.

"As far as the Jammu and Kashmir government is concerned, there is no such move at present nor will it be there in the future also," the spokesman said.
