Six injured in powerful blast at fertilizer plant

Vadodara: At least three persons were feared injured in a powerful blast, which occurred in one of the boilers of Nitrogen Phosphorous plant of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertiliser Corporation Ltd (GNFC) at Bharoch, about 90 kms from Vadodara on October 14 night.

Three others are feared trapped in debris of the plant, which collapsed after the explosion, official reports said.

Special IGP of Vadodara Range Rakesh Asthana said efforts are continuing to rescue the three other persons trapped under the debris of the plant, which collapsed after the powerful explosion.

The cause of the blast was not immediately known.

The sound of the explosion could be heard several kilometres away from the plant premises, reports said.
