Tuesday, October 14 2003 18:40 Hrs (IST)

Udupi (Karnataka): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh on October 14 said his government would deal firmly with Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Praveen Togadia if he made any attempt to enter his state to foment communal disharmony.

"We will not allow Togadia to enter our state to create any communal disharmony," Singh, who was in Udupi after visiting the Kollur Mokambika temple told reporters.

He said Madhya Pradesh had remained free from any communal problem in the last 10 years under his leadership.

On the issue of foreign origin of Congress president Sonia Gandhi raised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar, he said she was a leader elected by voters and the issue had no significance.
