Vadodara: A woman was killed in police firing in Whorvad area, under Wadi police station in Vadodara on October 14, according to SSG hospital sources.

Police had to open fire when a group of people, mostly women, allegedly prevented police team to arrest a murder accused on parole, Salim Golawala, who was "hiding" in one of the houses in the area after learning that he was awarded life imprisonment, police said.

Two others who were injured were also taken to SSG hospital, sources said.

City police commissioner Sudhir K Sinha said the situation is under control and normalcy has been restored in the area.

Three additional contingent of Special Reserve Police (SRP) have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order, Sinha said.
