Kathmandu: Continuing their attack against security personnel, Maoist rebels killed three police
personnel and injured five in separate incidents in Nepal, police sources said on October 16.
Two suspected Maoists shot sub-inspector Saroj Poudyal in the premises of his house at Mahadevsthan
in Koteshwor area early on October 16.
Poudyal was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries, the sources said adding seven
people have been arrested in connection with the murder.
In another incident, Maoists ambushed a police vehicle killing two policemen and injuring five others in
front of a hospital in Palpa district in west Nepal on October 15 night, the Radio Nepal said.
The policemen were returning to their police station after regular night patrolling when the landmine
exploded.
Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission has decided to send a fact-finding team to inquire
into the killing of four students during a shootout between the Maoists and security personnel at
Sharada Higher Secondary School at Mudbhara village in Doti district.
The team is meeting six injured students who are receiving medical treatment at the Nepalgunj hospital,
Nepali daily 'The Rising Nepal' said.
The Commission has condemned the incident, saying that both the sides have not adhered to the
Geneva Convention in providing security to the general public.
However, the Royal Nepal Army has maintained that the students were killed in a bid to rescue them
after the Maoists abducted them in order to recruit them into their militant forces.
