Girl killed, 5 wounded in Pak mortar shelling

Rajouri: A five-year-old girl was killed and five persons - four women and a jawan - were injured, one of them seriously, when Pakistani troops on October 15 pounded forward areas of Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir with heavy mortar shelling.

The girl Sapna was killed and four women were wounded when the mortar bombs hit Feriya village, an official spokesman said.

The injured women were identified as Samitri Devi, Kailash Devi, Babli Devi in the age group of 22 to 30 and 16-year-old Bami Devi. The condition of Kailash Devi, shifted to Jammu Medical College, was stated to be serious.

The Pakistani troops resumed heavy mortar fire on October 16 evening after 16:00 hours (IST).
