New Delhi: Buoyed by United States declaring Karachi-based underworld don Dawood Ibrahim as
a "specially designated global terrorist", India on October 17 again asked Pakistan to hand him over, so
that he can be prosecuted for various crimes.
"We also appeal to other states to disallow him transit or relocation from his current residence," External
Affairs Ministry spokesman told reporters, welcoming the US Treasury notification on Dawood.
Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner Munnawar Bhatti was called to the External Affairs Ministry on
October 17 morning and his attention drawn to the fact that India had repeatedly sought handing over of
Dawood.
Arun Singh, joint secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, reiterated these demands in the light of the
latest developments during his meeting with the Pakistani envoy.
"We renew our demand to the government of Pakistan to hand over Dawood Ibrahim to India, so that he
can be prosecuted for the crimes committed by him," the spokesman said.
Dawood is one of the prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai blasts and figures in the list given to Pakistan
by India seeking the handover of 20 criminals who have taken refuge in that country.
