Interpol to provide all help in tracking fugitives

New Delhi: Hinting at Pakistan, Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble on October 17 said the global
police would provide all help in tracking and arresting fugitives even in cases where bilateral relations
between two countries were not up to the mark.
He was replying to a question on Pakistan's denial of existence of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in its
soil despite concrete evidence provided by India and Interpol issuing a Red Corner Notice against him.
Dawood has been declared a "global terrorist" by the US.
To the same question, CBI Chief and Interpol Vice President P C Sharma said, "the recommendations
(of the Interpol conference) have been adopted unanimously and
Pakistan was also part of it."
Though reluctant to answer any direct question on Dawood or Indo-Pak relations, Noble, however, said
it had been the endeavour of Interpol to impress upon countries for immediate arrest of fugitives wanted
by any other member country.
"Wherever I go, I myself raise this issue ... it is only through friendly persuasion that we have to
encourage all countries to turn over fugitives wanted in other countries," he said.
Sharma said, "What we decide are principles of cooperation among member-countries. Requests (for
extradition or deportation of fugitive Dawood Ibrahim) have been made. Let us wait to see what fruits
they bear."
