New Delhi: The college student allegedly raped by four Presidential Guards on October 17 identified
three of the accused during a Test Identification Parade (TIP), police sources said.
The victim recognised Manish, Satinder and Kuldeep during the TIP, they said. Earlier, the victim had
identified one of the accused, Harpreet.
The identification of all the four accused by the victim has strengthened the police case. Police is now
awaiting a report from the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory to corroborate the evidence in the
sensational case.
On October 8, four Armymen posted as Presidential Guards, allegedly gang-raped a college student in
a park in broad daylight after which they were arrested. Manish, Satinder, Kuldeep and Harpreet of the
Cavalry unit of the Presidential Guards allegedly committed the crime in Buddha Jayanti Park near
Daula Kuan at around noon that day.
While Harpreet was arrested the same day, the three other "sawars" (horsemen) were nabbed on
October 16, the sources said.
According to a complaint by the victim, the Jesus and Mary College student had gone to the park along
with her friend at around 10:30 hours (IST), the sources said. Soon thereafter, the four accused in Army
uniform bearing a tag of Presidential Guards reached there and started teasing the girl.
Irritated by this, the girl and her friend started leaving the park but the foursome prevented them, they
said citing the complaint. The accused then allegedly assaulted the girl's friend and raped her, the
sources said.
Medical examination conducted on the victim has confirmed the sexual assault, they said.
