Agartala: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan has been killed and another injured when
National Liberation Front Of Tripura (NLFT) insurgents ambushed a CRPF patrol at a remote area of
South Tripura district, police said on October 19.
Two CRPF jawans of 83 Battalion were hit with bullets when the insurgents fired upon a CRPF patrol at
Akcherri village. A 15-minute gunbattle ensued between the two sides, the police said.
While one jawan died on the spot, another jawan was rushed to Udaypur sub-divisional hospital in a
critical condition, the police said.
No casualty was reported from the side of insurgents, who fled with a Self Loading Rifle (SLR).
Senior officials of the CRPF and police rushed to the spot and a combing operation was launched in the
area to track down the insurgents.
This was the second ambush on the CRPF jawans since last week in the state.
Earlier, three CRPF jawans and a civilian were killed when insurgents of All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF)
triggered a landmine blast at a convoy at Atharamura hill range area of West Tripura district on October
13.
