Lucknow: Bollywood's superstar Amitabh Bachchan was on October 19 appointed Uttar Pradesh's brand ambassador to help improve the state's sagging industrial climate.

Amar Singh, Chairman of the state industrial development council and a family friend of the Bachchans, told reporters in Lucknow that Amitabh has agreed to be the brand ambassador of Uttar Pradesh "so that we can improve the industrial climate of the state."

The members of the industrial development council, comprising who's who of the corporate world, held a meeting to chalk-out the roadmap for development of Uttar Pradesh.

Besides Bachchan, the Managing Director of Reliance group Anil Ambani, Chairman of Godrej group Adi Godrej, chief of Sahara Parivar Subrata Roy Sahara and CEO of Hindusta Lever group M S Bagga held a brain-storming session with government officials to chalk out the blueprint of industrial development of the state.

Uttar Pradesh has a potential to grow more due to its size and weight and if UP develops, India will develop too, Adi Godrej told the reporters.
