Hyderabad: In yet another instance of baby swapping in the city, police has registered a case after a
woman claimed she was handed over a girl in place of her infant boy at Koti government maternity
hospital, police said in Hyderabad on October 20.
According to a complaint lodged with the Sultan Bazar police by Padma, a native of Narayanapuram
village in Nalgonda district, she was admitted to the hospital by her mother and mother-in-law on
October 18 night, they said.
Padma claimed that she had given birth to a baby boy in the wee hours of October 19, but was handed
over a baby girl by the hospital staff, sources said.
However, hospital authorities have refuted the charges.
Police, which has registered a case under section 417 and 420 of IPC, would conduct DNA test to
ascertain the baby girl's biological parents, they said.
Meanwhile, the baby girl has been shifted to Niloufer hospital, police added.
