Two killed, 57 injured in JK grenade blasts

Srinagar: Two civilians were killed and 57 injured as militants struck with grenades at two crowded
places within a span of one-and-a-half-hour in Kashmir Valley on October 20, official sources said.
In the first incident at around 15:30 hours (IST), militants lobbed a grenade towards a Border Security
Force (BSF) picket at busy Batmaloo bus stand in Central Srinagar which fell short of the target and
exploded on the road injuring 51 people, including an Army jawan, they said.
The injured were rushed to hospital where one of them, identified as Abdul Rashid Sheikh of Tral area
of Pulwama district, succumbed, the sources said.
Militants tossed a grenade targeting a moving security vehicle at the busy business centre of Lal Chowk
in Anantnag district, headquarters of South Kashmir, at around 17:00 hours (IST), they said.
The grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the road, killing Mohammad Yousuf Wagay
and injuring seven others, they added.
