Srinagar: In a show of unity, senior leaders of five-party ruling coalition have expressed satisfaction over
functioning of the government in Jammu and Kashmir and discussed measures to effect further
improvement giving greater focus on implementation of the Common Minimum Programme (CMP).
The meeting of the leaders of PDP (People’s Democratic Party), Congress, People's Democratic Forum,
National Panthers Party and CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist), second within five days, was held
with Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed in chair, to send a loud and clear message to the
Opposition that the alliance partners were determined to further strengthen the unity, official sources
said on October 20.
The meeting comes in the wake of claims made by the main Opposition National Conference that there
were differences within the coalition and it is bound to collapse.
As a follow up to the decisions taken at the Coordination Committee of the coalition which met on
October 15 stressing the need for greater coordination between the alliance
partners, the coalition leaders besides discussing the over all functioning of the government called for
formulation of a comprehensive policy to involve private sector in
strengthening and expanding the educational infrastructure in the state, the sources said.
Keeping in view the opinion expressed by the leaders of the alliance, Education Minister Harshdev Singh
has been asked to prepare a comprehensive policy and submit before the
Cabinet, the sources said.
