'Mother Teresa honoured for creating 10,000 padris'
Monday, October 20 2003 11:43 Hrs (IST)
Cuttack: RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh) on October 19 took a dig at the beatification of Mother
Teresa at the Vatican saying, "she was being honoured for creating 10,000 padris (priests) in Mizoram".
"Sainthood to a Mahatma in Hindu society comes from the people unlike the current one in the Vatican
where the arrangements were made by the church to honour a person with
sainthood six years after her death," Adish Kumar, Assistant General Secretary of the RSS, said at a
public meeting in Cuttack.
"The beatification was nothing but recognition to her for creating at least 10,000 padris in Mizoram," he
alleged.
RSS chief K S Sudarshan, national secretary Mohan Bhagwat, joint secretary Bhaiyaji Joshi and VHP
(Vishwa Hindu Parishad) general secretary Praveen Togadia were present at the meeting attended by a
large crowd braving rains.
The meeting was organised to mark the All India executive meeting of the RSS, which was being held in
Cuttack since October 16.
