Tuesday, October 21 2003 18:57 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: India and Sri Lanka on October 21 agreed to work out a Defence cooperation agreement and decided to enhance surveillance of their maritime zones to minimise incursions.

New Delhi offered daily air services between Colombo and the metropolitan cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata.

In addition, unlimited access would be available for air services to and from 18 tourist destinations in India, a joint statement, issued at end of talks between visiting Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and his Indian counterpart Atal Behari Vajpayee and other leaders in New Delhi, said.
