Mumbai: Police has recovered a large cache of detonators and ammonium nitrate powder, and arrested
three persons on Bhiwandi-Chinchwati road in Thane district late on October 21 night, police said in
Mumbai on October 22.
Over 700 detonators and nearly 750 kg of Ammonium Nitrate powder were seized from the trio, Thane
Police sources said.
The trio, who was carrying the explosives in a four-wheeler, has been arrested for not possessing
documents to own and transport the explosives, sources said.
The suspects were being questioned to know where the explosives were being taken, although Mumbai
police officials have dismissed that the explosives could have landed in the hands of subversive
elements.
"The detonators were perhaps being taken for quary detonation use", Dr Satya Pal Singh, Mumbai Joint
Commissioner of Police (Crime) told reporters.
