Peace bid will only encourage terrorists: Sena
Thursday, October 23 2003 20:39 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Continuing with its tough stand against normalisation of ties with Pakistan, Shiv Sena on October 23 reacted sharply to National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government's latest peace initiative, saying it will only encourage the terrorists to carry out subversive activities easily.

Referring to the continuing activities of terrorism by Pakistan, Shiv Sena executive president Udhav Thackeray told reporters, "The resumption of services would give a boost to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism."

"The ties between India and Pakistan should not be normalised when the neighbouring country is engaged in sponsoring terrorism in our country," he said.

The Shiv Sena, constituent in the NDA government, also opposed the proposal of resuming transport services between the two countries.
