Muslim Board opposes any legislation on Ram temple
Sunday, October 26 2003 10:42 Hrs (IST)
Srinagar: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) said any legislation to facilitate
construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya, as demanded by Sangh parivar, would
be "unconstitutional".
He said by raising such a demand, the Sangh parivar and its allies virtually accepted defeat even before
the High Court had delivered a verdict on the issue.

"They know that their case is weak and would be defeated in the court, leading them to call for
legislation. If they claim that Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) findings
support their claim, they should wait for the verdict," he said.
Illyas claimed that prominent historians of the country have raised objections to the ASI findings during
the excavations at Ayodhya and "we have filed the same before the
court."
He said all political parties of the country including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have opposed the
demand for legislation on the Ram temple.
