India proposes dates for talks with Pak on air links
Monday, October 27 2003 15:45 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi: In a fresh bid to break the deadlock over civil aviation links, India has proposed to Pakistan
two sets of dates in November for next round of technical-level talks to resolve the issue.
The new dates suggested to Islamabad are November 3 and 4 or November 10 and 11, External Affairs
Ministry sources said on October 27.
In continuation of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's April peace initiative, India had on October 22
proposed the 12 measures to Pakistan including offering a second round of talks to restore air links and
over-flights.
The first round on August 28 in Rawalpindi had failed to yield any positive outcome with Pakistan
seeking "abiding commitment" from India not to ban over-flights in future.
However, the two sides had decided to meet again for further talks. Over-flights were suspended
following the December 13 terrorist attack on the Parliament.
