Dara produced in court in jail staff assault case

Cuttack (Orissa): Dara Singh, sentenced to death in the Graham Staines murder case, was produced
before a local court in Cuttack along with six others, in connection with a separate case of assault of jail
staff.
Judicial Magistrate (first class - rural) Dhaneswar Mallick adjourned the hearing to November 4.
They were produced in Mallick's court as the Judicial Magistrate, Bikram Patnaik, in whose court the
matter was being heard was on leave.
Dara and the six others had been accused of assaulting the Jail Superintendent and other staff of the
Circle Jail at Choudwar few months ago when they were undertrial prisoners.
The six other prisoners, Rabi Soen, Mahendra Hembram, Harish Mahanta, Surath Nayak, Thuram Ho
and Kartik Lohar had been sentenced to life imprisonment in the Staines case.
